  • User-level Backups of Exchange 2000/03/07 without 3rd party software

I found this great article on backing up individual user mailboxes using and scheduling ExMerge to automatically get MAPI-based .PST file backups. There is a limitation of a 2GB backup per user (that's a limitation of ExMerge), but it can prove useful to many administrators out there. The article...

  • Coverting old data to Quickbooks 2009

I recently obtained Quickbooks 2009 for Windows for my organization. Our previous version was Quickbooks 6 for Mac. When we tried to convert the data, we received a message that said that it was unreadable, and we would need to first convert it to Quickbooks 2005 for Mac, then to version 2009 for Windows...

  • Re: Back That Mac Up

As I use multiple Macs in many locations, both portables and desktops, my main concern is the availability of the data when and where I need it, as opposed to simply backing up data. I rely upon Synchronize Pro to keep all of my machines current (http://www.qdea.com/synchronize_pro_x_intro.html). In...

Two years ago I started volunteering at a small county historical society & museum. I am interested in input about how to store and catalogue photographs. Any suggestions on the above?

  • Re: Disaster Planning: What nonprofits need to know to protect their tech

Thanks to everyone who participated in this morning's webinar! I'd especially like to thank my colleague, Elliot Harmon, nonprofit consultant (and forums host) Chris Shipley, and Michelle Baldwin from Volunteers in Service to Others for sharing their expertise and experiences. You can see the...

  • Disaster Planning: What nonprofits need to know to protect their tech

Does your organization have a plan to keep your technology, data, and assets protected in the event of an emergency or disaster? What if it's not an actual disaster like a hurricane or flood, but a staff member simply loses or breaks a laptop carrying essential supporter data? How much time or money...

  • Re: Rethinking my Storage/Backup solution

Hey! So, I'm going to assume you got the Backup Exec 12.5 here from TechSoup - which basically covers unlimited agents and licenses (unless I'm mistaken). The one piece of software missing from BE12.5 (at least from the description) appears to be Vista, so if you need to back up a Vista machine...

  • Re: File Storage for Distributed Nonprofits

No hosted solution will provide you access to your files when you're offline unless you take the necessary steps to make them available. So even a hosted server requires you to take additional steps on your end to make sure all of the files you're accessing on the server are available offline...

  • Re: RE: Postini Anti-Spam

I am technical support for a postini reseller and would like to just clear up something that gorgeous11 wrote about being a little uncomfortable handling your business letters to someone else. Postini is a "cloud" service which means that emails etc. is scanned as it passes through postini...
  • Re: Has Acronis been approached?

Hi Scot-- Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure if Acronis has been approached regarding software donations, but the person to ask would be Gayle Carpentier, our Director of Business Development--here is her email . Do you work for Acronis? Or just a happy user? You may want to also check out this...
