We use to use backup tapes, but I've stopped using them - mostly because it would not be easy to restore or get to the data in an emergency. We have about a total of 60 gig of data from all our servers. (40 gigs is mostly archive stuff) We we purchased 4 100gig Iomega USB Portable Hard Drives. 1 is used for nightly backups, while being rotated off

I've gone to the "free" way which gives me a lot more options, and a lot less headaches. All our data on our servers are in a simple "data" directory - or course all split up under that so only certain users can see certain things. On my local PC that I use during the day, at night starting at 8pm, I have it scheduled to run a simple .bat job: xcopy

Since we are getting ready to order soon (hopefully if we have the money), I would like to ask this again to make sure I did not miss anything. There are 2 items for sale: Windows Vista Business Upgrade - $10 Windows XP Pro Upgrade - $8 So is there any different in buying the Vista version for $10 vs. buying the XP pro version & using the software

This is what the restriction says: Eligible organizations may request up to a total of four individual applications or one suite application per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). My question: Can I purchase 4 copies of Adobe Acrobat a year? (or is it 1 copy of Acrobat, but I can also buy 1 copy of 3 other Adobe products)

You can place a Microsoft order once every year (July-June year) But over 2 years - you can not go over Microsofts limits of: 6 titles total 50 licenses for each of the 6 titles (limit 1 server license) So if in March you ordered under 50 Office 2007 licenses, you can order more now (as long as the total is under 50) Also try to plan ahead - since you

There are I believe both Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel calendar templates available free on Microsoft's website. You have to manually type each event in (can't just put in a recurring event - but could be a solution if it would work.) Also in places like Best Buy, Office Depot or Office Max, check those "cheap" $9.99 CD programs &

A. I already have a TechNet subscription, so I already have all the media that I need. (Hum... pay $27 for the media of 1 thing, or pay $21 for a 2 year single user TechNet subscription that gives you the media for everything......) *** HINT for most cost savings to some of you! *** B. I never "upgrade" - I always load from scratch, but of course keep

We are getting ready to purchase some licenses for windows, so lets see if I understand this correctly. I can purchase XP Pro for $8 with which with software assurance will upgrade to the Vista Business right away for free. Or I can purchase Vista Business for $10 each. Is there any reason anyone can think of why I should not save $2 for each copy?

I know this will vary from place to place, but would like to see what kind of numbers are out there at other non-profit agencies. (and would even like to know what it is at profit businesses) That is - how many tech people does a place have to cover how many users and/or PC's. That is does your place have 2 techs to cover 100 users/PC? I'm trying

At our location, we are using a tape backup system - but I'm currently investigating doing some of our more frequently used files also being backed up on flash drives. (We at total have around 30 gigs - where around 5 gigs is current non-archive type of data) When looking at recovery, my problem is lets say our building burns down. The easy thing
