  • VPN speed issues

Hi - we have been using VPN to conect our branch offices to our server and while it works ok and is fairly transparent the big issue we are facing is speed, its just really slow when uploading documents. Hence my team are reluctant to use it that much. I am no tech head but are there ways to improve transfer speeds over VPN? We have the best possible

  • Re: Do you have experiences to share from Google Docs, Microsoft Office Live Workspace, or Zoho?

Yes we have been playing with Google docs for a few months in an attempt to managed the shared development and editing or manuals , process docs etc . It has not really worked for us, ok if we shared a few docs but it became clumbersome with more. Not always easy to use . Its in the cloud as well which is ok but I worry about security and reliability

  • Sending SMS messages to large groups

Hi all, We are looking for a simple web based system to send mass SMS messages out to our community of volunteers. Some people have told me Twitter could do this or are their other services available at no or low cost? We are New Zealand based so it would have to work outside of the states Richard Aston

  • Re: RE: Disaster proof Network Storage for Backup

Thanks , looks like I need to explore more fully the idea of off site /online back up. Bandwidth could be an issue but maybe if I time it at night and work on a incremental backup it may stack up.

  • RE: Disaster proof Network Storage for Backup

Thanks for your thoughts ellery. Risk - our building caught fire, got flooded or if we we broken into and our server stolen. All our laptops are taken of site at night. We have a semi manual backup system that requires a removable disk to be swapped every day and taken off site at night - human error means this does not always happen. I just thought

  • RE: relationship between wiki engine, wiki hoster, wiki farm, wiki software, wiki website

Taking this thread further... I'd been looking at wikis to serve as a cross between an intranet and a doc management tool. Not sure if I fould what I was looking for and would appreciate a steer from others. My needs.. Managing our documentation - mainly manuals but also word doc templates - by managing I mean a framework that can hold the constant

  • Disaster proof Network Storage for Backup

We back up mutliple notebooks to our server and then back our server up to a removable hard drive that goes off site. I'm wondering is it possible to have an on site network storage unit ( pref wireless) that is either fire and water proof or perhaps something we can house in a fireproof safe. Any one done something like this. All other ideas are

  • RE: Looking for Free PDF Generator

Hey I have tried lots of these and they are not all equal. If you need good graphics quality ( ready for print) many show up problems. I have settled on CutePDF it works very well at all levels including print ready graphics. I used to use PDF creator but after Windows Service pack 2-3 it stopped working properly , it is great but buddy. Richard
