  • Re: Shared Auto Syncing Calendars

Can you be more specific with the reasons why Google Calendar and similar options will not work? It seems to do exactly what you need, and it's free, online, always available. If there are particular requirements it doesn't fulfill, knowing them will help in recommending alternatives. Regards, Oshyan Greene Assistant Director Bauman College

You might also take a look at Wink, which is free. It's a bit more limited than some other options, and the UI isn't always intuitive, but it's pretty functional and, of course, free: http://www.debugmode.com/wink/ Regards, Oshyan Greene

  • Re: Social, collaborative database-does it exist?

Unfortunately I don't know of a cheap or open source app that fits your needs directly (more specific details on your project would help narrow it down), but if you're looking to make it a public site and interested in a collaborator, you might look at Whiskey Media. They've got a couple of really cool and interesting community collaboration

  • Re: Asset Management and Help Desk Software

We just started using OCS in combination with GLPI http://glpi-project.org/?lang=en about a month ago and we're loving it thus far. GLPI runs separate from OCS and imports data from it. It provides helpdesk and other functionality, including project management and more. It's not only free and open source, including features previously mentioned

  • Re: image converter

Another great free option is XnView. Along with Irfanview it's probably the most recommended image converter and viewer, but I prefer XnView by a good margin. XnView supports more formats (over 400 for viewing, 50 for saving to), is more frequently updated, has decent filter and image adjustment functionality, an image browser, tabbed interface
