  • Re: IT Certifications

Thanks for the input. I need the certification because I was recently laid off and I feel it will provide me with one more criteria to land in the "yes" stack on a hiring authority's desk. I am aware of the "paper certs". I once was in a class with an MCSE as my lab partner. I was impressed with this person's certification

  • IT Certifications

What certifications would you deem most valuable at this time? Taking into account your own personal job history and I. T. experience. Functionally, I am a Windows sysadmin but I only have an A+ cert. I need to get a certification and am undecided between CCNA and MCSE. With MCSE (2003) I see a never-ending process of studying to re-cert as Microsoft

  • Re: Assistive Technology Certification

Thanks Pete! I also found in my research that I have some resources close to home. If anyone is curious, two local universities here in California, Cal State Northridge and Cal State Dominguez Hills offer certificate programs in AT. Dominguez's program is online. Northridge has the best program though, from what I am told, they seem to be a hub
  • Assistive Technology Certification

    O. K. I did a search in this Website on this subject and found no results so I'm gonna post my question here. I am a sysadmin and have recently learned about and have an interest in Assistive Technology Certification in California. I want to know if anyone out there holds such a certificate and how may class hours were needed for the cert and how
  • Re: New site with Safari

Hi All, The Opera browser has the same issue of the new login page not displaying correctly - having only a narrow column down the center of the page. I figured it would be corrected when the other display issues are corrected but then I thought, what if it's browser specific and they don't know about Opera having the problem? So just passing

  • If You Had to Purchase New Enterprise Antivirus Right Now...

I am researching an enterprise antivirus solution. Back in March I asked which Norton Antivirus you would use. This was because I thought our NPO would qualify for Techsoup purchases, and it will. But the rest of our org may not because it is not an NPO (it's govt). So since we will have to pay full price, I am open to considering any enterprise
  • Sarbanes- Oxley

How do I go about learning if my organizaiton falls under Sarbanes-Oxley (or any other IT regulated requirements?)? I have researched it online and it appears Sarbanes only impacts financial orgs, not government/non-profits.

  • Re: Tips for staying secure

I like your multi-faceted approach and I am happy to see that according to your list I am using some pretty good security practices. And I am grateful to learn of a couple more. I did not know about Secunia PSI or OpenDNS. I will add one more item to the list of things to keep oneself secure because I have found that it has proven invaluable: Avoid
  • Re: Which Norton Product

I'm leaning toward getting the straight Norton antivirus (thanks for everyone's advice) and I want to know, how many of you are using it on an Active Directory domain? How many of you are using it peer-to-peer? We are peer-to-peer (200+ users) and I need to know if the Norton console has any trouble finding clients in a peer-to-peer environment
