I think what makes virtualization different from other emerging or hyped technologies is that it is delivering on its promises and has the ability to realize gains for small medium organizations at the same pace as enterprises. There is also no clear winner yet and there are cost-effective ways to test and implement it. I think my main criteria, which

HI Jesse, I think what Autumn was alluding to was that we can't really speak to OEM rules and legal requirements, especially those of Windows 7, as our donations are Volume Licensing. When we mention Vista OEM, it was in the context of making the jump from a Home line to a Professional line, in a cost-effective manner. Users can certainly pursue

Technically speaking you wouldn't need to present the XP Pro disc to do the installation. I was stating more the legal requirements for the donations rather than technical ones.

Legally speaking, you could install our windows 7 product over a vista business installation whose license you would replace/upgrade. Technically speaking, i have not tried the above and not familiar with the Windows 7 bootloader to say whether your first Vista installation won't be borked, for the lack of a better term. In other words you are upgrading your license with another one. You can thus upgrade from a Windows

yeah, i meant the in-place installs. I have never upgraded a Mac but this service pack ;) is enticing. I think all Mac OS can be either clean install or in-place, so I'll give it a try and see within the month when I have more time. The main app I use on the Mac is VMWare Fusion, though I might consider moving to VirtualBox once they release their
