  • RE: Live TV on website

Nidhi, There are a bunch of things to consider when putting video online, and there are many ways to accomplish this, so I'm only briefly touching on these topics, and I only know some of the outlines to begin with. First of all are copyright issues. The courts have looked down upon people re-broadcasting over-the-air TV signals on the web, so you

  • RE: LAMP how-to article

Scott, I think you're comment has focused in on one of the key issues that gets overlooked in many IT implementations, the cost of managing increasingly complicated IT systems built over time. As I mention in the article: "Of course, like any piece of custom code, a LAMP application requires regular maintenance, and the underlying systems need to

  • RE: Free Downloads section

There are a number of downloads for the Mac, some of my favorites include TextWrangler and Gimp for the Macintosh. We don't have any flags on the listings page indicating which platform a product is for, but in each entry there is a requirements field which includes information on what operating system the software runs on. • Bad news on the DSL front.

Folks, This article from Ars Technica summarizes changes that the FCC has just made in how it regulates DSL service that will have a negative impact on our sector. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20050805-5173.html Currently, many NTAPs recommend using Speakeasy DSL to clients, because of their superior service, when compared to SBC and other telcos

  • RE: Message Boards- feed back onUltraBoard??

wop, I just re-read Homepagetools.com's privacy policy and terms of use, and they look fine to me. I also did a quick Google search, and didn't find anything incriminating about either Ultraboard or Homepagetools.com. Since Ultraboard is a hosted application, I doubt there is any spyware bundled into it. That said, Ultraboard was recommended

  • RE: Keep the customer Happy!

Ethan, It sounds to me that the key issue you face is maintaining an "editorial voice" so that any content posted on the web would be appropriate, while at the same time not requiring constant management to maintain and produce. This is not an easy issue to finese, but there are a couple of different approaches. You might want to think about setting

  • RE: Help with TWiki?

I don't have experience with TWiki, but I have used a nimber of other project management tools, and have found them to be of varying usefulness. I've used a very simple wiki, pmWiki, to manage a small group project sucessfully. It has the advantage of being incredibly simple to install and use. But it doesn't have all the features that TWiki
