A comment on Windows 7: I built a new (home) system in October, motivated by the release date of W7, and pre-ordered a commercial OEM version of W7, and waited a few days. In the mean time I installed Ubuntu 9.10 beta (final release was one week after W7, but there were no great changes in the final release). When I got the W7 disc, the license on the

I upgraded 4 identical computers from W2K to XP recently, on new HDDs, (and also added cheap graphics cards); the performance was very greatly improved. I attribute the improvement to the fresh install of Windows. My Windows server got flooded in an accident 3 weeks ago, so I had to replace the proprietary HP mobo, costing about as much as the whole

I have used NoScript for a long time, but I have not tried to overcome barriers to to getting the whole office to use it. What is the best way to approach this inertia, which has at least three components: I may be wrong, but it seems that Firefox addons work only for the user who installs them, so I don't know how to install NoScript for users
unsurprising given the buzz around Windows 7
In case you were not around a couple of years ago, the buzz was even better (at least louder and more ubiquitous) for Vista's launch. Let's see in 9 months how well users actually like W7.
these are not OEM versions of the product, they are Volume Licensing products.
I understand, but you recommended buying OEM Vista in order to qualify for upgrade. And, even tho' my question did not relate to using a TechSoup donation directly, it is still on topic (BTW, why buy new Vista OEM & then pay
So if you pay $150 for an OEM Vista Business license ....
For new a personal home computer, I bought 7 pre-release Home OEM, and when I got box it says I have to use an MS suite of OEM installation software to install it. Is it really true that you cannot simply put the DVD in the drive and install it? I can imagine

I guessed from your Twitter handle that you were a fan of Linux. If you were handled mayuraasana or kaakaasana I would have thought you were interested in balance. http://spokensanskrit.de/
