I have reviewed GiftWorks for several nonprofit projects and generally disagree with the problems surfaced here with the software, and some of the comparisons presented. I have found that when compared to projects of generally the same scope (ebase, Metrix, eTapestry, DonorPerfect online to name a few), that GiftWorks has one of the better refined user

Most databases are good at handling some combination of your information management needs, but are less good at handling every one of your needs. This is typical, but depends on your specific data management requirements. Requirements include describing the data you need to collect, how you need to filter/search it and what outputs are important (describe

Ebase does have a fairly sophisticated utility for importing data. The challenge with ebase along with most other databases is to understand first whether and in what form you can extract data out of your current system, and then understand how exactly you must transform this output to properly fit it into ebase using their various import utilities

You might want to check out Metrix: http://metrix.fcny.org Its a contact/client management system that has a customizable "interactions" tool (built in Access). This tool can be defined as you need, to track basic profile information, or status points in a process (such as case management, event registration, grant apps, etc). While the flow of the

One in particular talks about the email glut for legislators at http://www.congressonlineproject.org/email.html . The problem I was referring to was not on the activist side, but on the receiving side of

I am working with several nonprofits now who are looking for membership ASP software, and citysoft is on my radar for their particular combination of features. I am curious if anyone else out there has had positive or negative experiences with this system and the vendor service. Any and all details please post :) Thanks! Eric

A few other Application Service Providers to consider: eConstituent The Soft Edge A more extensive, non-ASP solution - Open Concept is the lead developer behind an open source content management system (back-end.org) that integrates eadvocacy tools. Generally speaking, email advocacy has been shown to be largely ineffective, sticking to regular mail

Hi Rob, I don't know of any that are specifically for tracking emergency services. There is a recently released database from the Fund for the City of New York called Up & Running that may be helpful. It is developed in Access, and has a feature called "interactions" that allows you to customize the way your organization relates to folks. This
