Tim -- very nice and simple. Thank you! Robert

Ah -- you're right, software designed specifically for a contest sounds ideal. I haven't seen anything like that but maybe another member has. Failing that, I wonder whether event registration software would work. Some systems can limit the number of registrations. Or you could look for shopping cart software that includes inventory management

That sounds fun. Why do you need specialized software? Wouldn't an online payment service that supports custom fields handle this? It sounds like you're just collecting contact and credit card info plus a number (the guess). Since this is a game of chance these will not be "donations" -- so online donation services are out. But a generic

Dear Marcy, What kind of contest are you considering? I looked into whether a nonprofit I volunteer for could sell raffle tickets online and was told that it's illegal to do that (at least in California). So first make sure software isn't the main issue. Robert

Dear Chris, Welcome to TechSoup! Although Salesforce has been discussed here before, I don't see any discussions of how well it integrates with Quickbooks. Have you asked on the Salesforce discussion forum? I found this discussion there: http://community.salesforce.com/sforce/board/message?board.id=practices&thread.id=3008 I also found other

Dear SRazbadouski, I agree with Tim's suggestion of using eBay or a similar online auction service that's already set up for this. Does that fit with your thinking about a "plug-in"? Also, you need to think about whether the online silent auction items are being sold just online, just offline, or both. I looked into this for a charity

Dear PFWBS, Are you looking for ideas for brochures, preprinted brochures, or someone to print your own brochures? If you want ideas, I suggest checking out AFP's Resource Center (I think you need to be a member to use it) and SOFII (The Showcase of Fundraising Innovation and Inspiration). You need to register to use SOFII but that's free. You

Dear kpfromdc, Welcome to TechSoup. A great resource for learning about inexpensive donor databases is Idealware's " Consumers Guide to Low Cost Donor Management Systems " It's a 2-part report that reviews 30 inexpensive systems, and then goes into great detail about the ones they identified as their top 10. Among the features it covers

Dear Andy, The only other FM-Pro donor databases I know of are eBase (no longer supported). NorthStarDb (from one of the people behind eBase), and inResonance Generations. But I tried a web search for Filemaker Donations and a few others popped up. Does it have to run on FM-Pro? If you're open to an online database, you'll have more choices

Dear cbuncher, Welcome to TechSoup! I hope that someone with hands-on experience dealing with this issue will respond. But you should also check the archives of the Blackbaud User's Society (aka Blackbus) and the FUNDSVCS listserve. Blackbus covers all of Blackbaud's products. FUNDSVCS is a discussion list for Development Services folks. Both
