  • Re: Windows 7... we want to know what you want to know!

Three questions on this: The first is because I'm not completely clear on the ramifications of the Software Assurance Program. If I upgrade the XP Home to XP Professional, is the upgrade from there to Windows 7 free due to the SA Program or is there the additional $8 to upgrade to 7 Pro? Second, to upgrade the Vista Home Premium to Windows 7, could

  • Re: Windows 7... we want to know what you want to know!

Here's my question...and I'm glad I read before I bought. I notice that TechSoup is offering Win 7 Professional and Enterprise for the $8 and $9 admin fee respectively but that both are upgrades. I currently have XP Home on two machines and Vista (I think home) on a third. Will either of these be able to use either of these software upgrade

  • Re: ConstantContact vs Vertical response

I agree and use Vertical Response. My wife uses CC for a commercial business. I use VR for a non-profit. The setup is very similar. But, as was mentioned above, VR has a free account available for up to 10,000 (I think) sends per month for any 501(c)3 corporation. I used the PHP options for a while and got tired of the process I had to go through to

  • Re: your carrot and stick strategies sought

I think Elliott hit it on the head with the Horse/Cart analogy. If technology (ANY technology) is being used for the sake of being able to say you use technology, one the already tech-savvy will have any desire to use it. It must be presented as a way to increase productivity or otherwise impact the results of the person or, preferably, the organization

  • Re: Can anyone recommend a open source shopping cart software?

I won't claim to have a lot of experience but I have been playing around with Zen Cart, OSC and Cube Cart (all three provided by my web hosting provider). Jay, you may want to take another look at Zen because I believe it will do all that you specified above (that you were looking for originally at least). I'm about 90% sure they support Payflow
  • Re: RE: Creating Nonprofit Facebook Page: Does seeing other nonprofits on Facebook create a pa

FYI. I just checked out the FB page listed above. Under the question "I have a Facebook Group. Can it be converted to a page?" is the following answer. "We're no longer able to convert Facebook Groups into Pages. You're welcome to create a Page and notify your Group members that you'll be using the Page instead of the Group

  • Re: Looking for Free PDF Generator

I've used PDF creator with good success (I bought it on CD before I realized it was free online..). I've also used OpenOffice. However, the more direct path, if you're using Word, Excel, Publisher, etc. 2007 is to get the free addin from the MS website. One download and install sets it up for all the office suite. One thing that I would
  • RE: How to do mass e-mailings?

My wife uses Constant Contact in her job. She is certainly not what you might call computer savvy but she says it is very easy to use. I used GraphicMail.com for my own use for a couple years and really liked it. Now, my web host provider (webhostingbuzz) alllows me to set up mailing lists through my account so I have gone that route.

  • RE: What online survey tools have you used?

I've set up a form on my website as a survey tool. Good news...it gives me ultimate control over the content and format. Bad news...I have to compile and calculate the results on my own. I've also used ProfilerPro to create a survey. It makes the creation and use very simple. It also provides easy access to the results both individual and aggregate

  • RE: e-newsletters

A couple questions to clarify. 1) do you have a webpage? If so, what do you use to create those pages? 2) what program do you use to send your emails? Both Word and Microsoft FrontPage can create web page documents in a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) format and then allow you to see the html. I create my newsletter as a part of my webpage (because
