  • RE: Donor Management Software

we used filemaker pro with the filemaker donations 2.0 database, and it was ok. it didn't meet our needs because with our 5000 donors is was too slow, and i found it impossible to customize and the tech support was mediocre at best; there's no "donations 2.0 tech team," just the general filemaker inc tech support crew. not a lot of help. you

  • RE: How is your org.'

well, since we are the "trees foundation," we find that we pay a lot of attention to the kinds of papers we use. all of our printed material is either 100% post-consumer recycled waste, or entirely tree-free. it costs more and limits some of our designs, but it sends a strong message and saves quite a few trees. internally we use 100% recycled laser

  • ESRI ArcGIS is great, but not free.

i've used Google Earth, ESRI's ArcView and ArcGIS Desktop, and played with a few other GIS packages, including the free open source GRASS. ArcGIS is definitely the most professional and commonly-used program out there. it's like Photoshop for maps; there might be other ways to work the data, but hardly anyone uses them. the ECP grant can

  • RE: VOIP recommendations?

hi, sorry for the confusion. we are getting charged over $100/month for 3 lines, not 8. we have eight extensions that use those three lines.

  • RE: ebase: is it dead?

thanks for the tip bob. i had already gone through the consultants list. two that i contacted had dropped support for ebase entirely. one of them offered to sell me another product instead. that's when i paid the fee to join the forum, and found it to be almost dead as well. so then my question turned from figuring out how to fix my problem, to

  • VOIP recommendations?

hi folks, we have a small office with 8 phones, but typically only 4 people at one time. we currently use a nortel compact 3x8; two of the telco lines are voice-only and one is voice and fax. all 8 handsets are plugged in. we don't do any conference calling or paging. we pay the phone company an absurd amount per year, $1200 per year i think, for

  • RE: Replacement Smartphone

sorry! i didn't mean to imply it was time spent on the internet; it was a comparison of market share, or usage measured in page hits. i should have been more clear. also i was mentally averaging some factoids; mobile safari has 4x the market share of windows mobile, and 50x the market share on google searches. Study: Surprise! iPhone owners don't

  • RE: ebase: is it dead?

filemaker 5.5 is not a well supported platform. filemaker 9 is. filemaker 5.5 is a dead platform. ebase uses filemaker 5.5. filemaker 5.5 is no longer supported by filemaker. you can't get 5.5 tech support. you can't buy a copy of filemaker 5.5. i could not even find 5.5 on any pirate boards, it's that old. i could not find any filemaker

  • RE: bottle-tenna

douggg, i read the news article, and it said the kid was arrested for illegally access his school network, NOT for possession of the can. it also said that he didn't even use the cantenna to get this access. it was just in the room. the article does not say it was even installed, only that it was present. and an email from the officer himself says
