You can try awstats , it is a web based log file analyzer that is included with many hosting packages. Advantages: you get to see all of your traffic, unlike google analytics which only gives you information about your visitors that have javascript enabled. Your website pages will be faster as they do not have to send information to google. Full control

I can reccommend SuSE 9.3, but you may want to go with Windows if you are not familiar with Linux. A comment like this in any other forum would have had the person repramanded.
