  • RE: Share your email do's and don'ts

johnmacek, Not sure if you've already tried this, but if you're using Outlook you can configure it to "never send a response" when someone requests an email read receipt. To do it in Outlook 2003, go to Tools > Options, then on the Preferences tab select the "E-mail Options" button, then the "Tracking Options" button. You should see read receipt

Ok, I'll share my personal pet peeve -- one I didn't mention in the article. It's when you ask someone an either/or question and they answer with a simple "yes". For instance: Q: Do we use the blue cover sheets or the goldenrod coversheets on our TPS reports now? A: Yes, that one. :) --Amit

  • RE: The 59 Smartest Nonprofits Online

Hey folks, Remember that the TechSoup forums are for discussing technology issues as they relate to nonprofits, not for debating politics. If you have comments about whether the 59 organizations deserve to be on the list based on their use of technology, we'd love to hear 'em. Otherwise, I'm going to have to ask you to take the political

  • RE: Mindmapper software

MindJet's MindManager Pro is my favorite. I tried FreeMind and found that it just didn't have all the features I was looking for in a mind mapping program. MindManager's not free, but MindJet offers nonprofit pricing if you call their sales number. --A

  • RE: Building a free MSP for NPOs

Hey there, Managed services for nonprofits are certainly a big business for Convio and Kintera. On a regional level, there's NPower NY's ITBasic program, which actually goes as far as to obtain and manage nonprofits' hardware and software (as opposed to just offering online CRM applications.) So, it does sound like there's demand for

  • RE: Creating Tech Training Materials

Good points, Lisa and Curtis. And thanks for the feedback. Does it help, at least, to see what others have done for their orgs, even if that means you have to rewrite some of it? Thinking beyond training materials in particular, I could see things like RFPs being handy to have examples of. (That's why TechSoup has an RFP Library online.) Are there

  • Creating Tech Training Materials

Hi all, I'm wondering how much time everyone feels like they spend creating tech training materials (like guides for employees)? Do you usually search the Web to see if the materials already exist? How often does that work? I'm curious to hear actual stories because I'm thinking about Creative Commons licensing and whether that's helpful
