Should have mentioned, the non-profit would provide mentoring and technical education in the area of building web applications, desktop applications and related technologies. I am an Alpha Five expert (Alpha Five is a TechSoup donated product) and I would be using that product as the foundation.

Is there a 'best state' in which to form a non-profit? Or, am I required to form it in the state where I live? This will be an international organization with one owner/member in the USA and one in the UK.

I've written a white paper for web builders on user registration and login methods. Examples are based on web apps built in Alpha Five (TechSoup donated product), but written in terms of "process" so should be useful regardless of what language you use. After obtaining V7 here, you can get V8 for a pretty low upgrade price. sub $200. V7 does not have the templates. I have a free Donor Management template at my website. Go to the products page. But you have to email me with info you are a non profit.

Thanks Susan, I will look into that after my May Alpha conference. The standard web seminar is generic, not focused on non-profit. But I could work something up and announce it here, just for non-profit organizations. If interested, I'd conduct an online training session for any number (free, no strings or mention of consulting). I would be happy

I host a weekly Web Seminar on using Alpha Five to build web applications (Alpha is a donated TechSoup product). rknauff - I did verify that the V7 product is fully available, and that 30 or so have purchased it in the last few days even. You have to go through this TechSoup product ordering process, not throught Alpha Software's website. Its true that the version offered here for free is V7 and they have a new version 8 just out. Its your option to upgrade

Alpha's ideal for building web apps off of SQL data source, its a little more complex and clumsy doing the same with a desktop GUI application. On the web side, any data source works just like the native DBF tables. If you want reporting from the SQL tables, it has a nifty new feature called Passive Link Tables that get refreshed from the SQL source

I received a TechSoup Stock product alert with Alpha Five (new version) as part of the offering. Just to mention to anyone here, I participated on the forum when the product was first introduced to TechSoup and am still available to answer questions about Alpha Five, what it can do, etc.
