  • RE: Exchange 2000 550 5.7.1 error

That may or may not solve the problem. I would first find what's causing the problem. Get a packet analyzer going. Microsoft givesn you NetMon for free. Capture the rejection, and see what the cause is. If you need help understanding the trace let me know and I'll be happy to assist.

  • RE: Buying new computers? Are you buying, 32 bit 64bit machines?

In the US prices for 64 and 32 are the same. So here price is not an issue. On the server side there are 64 bit apps today that take advantage of 64 bit. The performance gains are amazing. Servers with apps requiring 2 or 4 processors running at high utilization now can get by with one, and not even tax the processor. So no reason not to buy 64 bit

  • RE: An Awesome Tool for people like me....

I've been using Mind Manager for almost 2 years. This type of software is great! I use it all the time. This looks similar, and would encouarge people to give either a try. Mindmanager comes with a 14 day trial.

  • RE: Centrify.com (integrates non-MS boxen into AD)

You will be using LDAP, and need a directory server for AD to communicate with. (It's the old Zoomit prodcut.) The name of the Zoomit server has changed 3 times, can't remmber the current name for the product. Anyway you need to know LDAP. It's not too hard, but it's not easy etiher. If you have never done this GET someone who has to

  • RE: Best mix for non-profit Volunteer Center

You need one license of each software program and OS per computer. 5 Computers - purchase 5 copies of XP and 5 of Office. Netmeeting will work, easier if you don't have a NAT/PAT box. I think you will find you will not be happy with Netmeeting. The good cameras may not work for you either. Due to the interface. You might want rethink your plan.

  • RE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 conundrum

I'm seeing vendors embrace SQL 2005, especially the 64 bit. This might save you if you have to upgrade. I have seen SQL running a 65% utilization on quad 32 bit processors moved to SQL 2005 64 bit, utilization dropped to 11%. My guess is you could move to 64 bit and one proc without any problem and get an enormous boost. I know this might sound

Can you start in Safe mode? Or restore a back-up. Have to ask. Why almost 2 years after SP2 came out are you finally installing it now?

  • RE: Keep Your Data Safe with Online Backup Services

Would not go with Off site storage. Restoring a server over a T1 takes a very long time. Do the math. Plus what happens when the link is down... no back-up. Yikes! Take a look at Microsoft's DPM. It will do the delta's. For backing up the data, take a look at Groove. Not a B/U solution per say, but it will do what you need and give you more

  • RE: Funny munitions t-shirt

Interesting piece of history. It all began with Diffe or was it Hillman? They showed how useless the laws were regarding technology. Hey wait, its still the same today. Guess our lawmakers didn't learn much.
  • RE: Buying new computers? Are you buying, 32 bit 64bit machines?

There are a few issues, some server apps are 32 bit only and there are driver issues on the desktops. At this point I see no reason NOT to buy 64 bit servers. If you have a 32 bit app, rearange the hardware. The performance gains are enormous, especially with DBs. As for desktops. 64 bit WIndows has been out for over a year. There is little software
