I just did a training video on using rss. As usual for me right now this is in the context of MOODLE but does cover subscribing to feeds from blogs as well. We have worked with OWL a little. Open source and pretty easy to insatll and understand. OWL Intranet Owl is a multi user document repository (knowledgebase) system written in PHP4 for publishing files/documents onto the web for a corporation, small business, group of people, or just for yourself. - From the OWL site.

We used to use phpBB, until the security holes caught us...it was ugly. Since then We've switched to Simple Machines Forum http://www.simplemachines.org/ It's free and works with PHP and MySQL. Easy to install if you have admin access. Paul

Robert, I just tested it and it seems to work. It's rather a large file so takes a bit of time to lead. I probably should muck about with it a bit and offer a smaller version, but with a full screen capture its hard to follwo is the video size gets much smaller. Thanks for the note and I hope it loads for you, I would enjoy your input. Paul

We used to use phpBB, but had some issues with the security of that system, so now I use and reccommend SImple Machines (SMF). Simple Machines It's php and mysql...like phpBB, has a decent featire set and is easy to install. Paul

We have been using MOODLE for over a year now. We evaluated a range of open source LCMS's before settling on MOODLE as the most feature rich and intuitive product. Each new release or upgrade enhances features and there is a good community which has grown up around it. I don't want to over-evangelize the product, but it works well on both ends
