When you interview vendors individually, it's often helpful to ask a vendor what questions you should be asking the other vendors. They will normally give you some really good things to ask the other guy. You must, of course, ask and listen carefully so that you can separate the smoke from the fire.

I recently assisted a nfp in an extensive evaluation of most of the listed products. For their needs, DonorPro from TowerCare (not listed here) clearly came out at the top of their list. For full disclosure -- I'm a volunteer with db experience and no relationship to any vendor.

Recently I helped a nfp evaluate a number of web-based, hosted databases. DonorPerfect, eTapestry, and DonorPro were among the candidate products. Each product had its strengths, but DonorPro included some unique features that seemed to be a good fit for this nfp.

I do some volunteer work for a nfp that is doing a DonorPro implementation. One of the features they liked was the ability to do batch check scanning and have the check images linked to constituent donation records. I'm sure that the folks at Towercare can advise you on whether their DonorPro product might fit your needs.

If anyone has any first-hand experience with a Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner for check scanning, I would be grateful for your feedback on how well the feeder hardware works with checks. Thank you.
