Do you know if the purchase you made through Techsoup included the 2 year maintenance option? If so and your purchase was within the last 2 years then you would qualify. Unfortunately outside of the Techsoup donation program the only decent option for non-profits is through Adobe's charity license program . Under this program there are no upgrades

The only refurbished systems I have had really good luck with are the HP business class ones that we get from HP direct. If a system fails say a test on the memory coming out of the factory, it's sent back, rebuilt with new memory, and sold as refurb's. Also carries the same HP standard warranty (1 year on dx2400, and 3 year on dc5800 and dc7800

There's a small discount for non-profits. You can purchase the educational box product, for Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional v10 w/noise canceling Microphone should be about $615. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks, Jeramie jeramie.anders@ccbnonprofits.com

We are hearing from Adobe that media for CS4 will start shipping on the 29th. So if you purchase through the standard Adobe charity program (note, not the donation program) you should be able to receive it first part of November. It usually takes Adobe a few months to put the latest version on Techsoup. So you can purchase now through the standard charity

Unfortunately not. It's more money in the long run buying a pc from a retail store with Vista Basic and upgrading the correct way to Vista Business or XP Pro than to just start off with a business class system that'll come with Vista Business and an XP Pro downgrade option. This is just another reason to stay away from consumer pc's for

What virtualization software are you using? I believe the VMWare ESX Server comes with tools to migrate servers to the virtual server. Jeramie

Keep in mind you may not need the Enterprise CAL's for all your users. Just for the ones you want to have the additional Enterprise CAL functionality. You can download the feature comparison chart here, the Entprise CAL mainly includes additional BI access: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101978031033.aspx thanks, Jeramie

I'm not sure of Techsoup's product availability through the donation program, there's also the standard charity program you can purchase under. Does Techsoup limit you to only 1 per processor license? If so you could get that and a 2nd one through the standard charity program, it's kind of pricey at around $1,400 but still much cheaper

You are correct Gary, also with virtualization it's much easier to have a hot spare sever ready and waiting versus multiple hot spare servers in a non-virtualized environment. This way when something does happen the hot spare server would go live and you would have nearly no downtime.

I could be wrong but I believe Techsoup limits the purchases to one time per year through their donation program. You can go through Adobe's regular charity discount program (different than the donation program), to purchase additional software. There are no limitations. Under the standard charity license program the Acorbat Standard v8 license
