Looking at upgrading my standalone wireless network (basically a Linksys plugged into my DMZ) into a "proper" controller/access point layout for better coverage and security. The Netgear equipment is reasonably priced and wondering if anyone has any experience with this stuff?
-
I was looking for solutions, searched through the forums, and thought I'd add another robust looking one that I came across. http://www.cerberusweb.com/products.php It's a commercial product with low cost pricing for non-profits and free for charities. I'll be putting it through its paces shortly and hopefully will have time to post back

Ditto on mozy.com. I use for my personal laptop backup and we are evaluating for network backup of server data.

Old thread, new article... don't forget that you can always push Remote Desktop through an SSH tunnel as well. Configure a dumbed down Linux box with public key authentication only and port forward TCP 3389 (UDP not necessary) from your DMZ to your internal network and you have a reasonably secure and encrypted route to your Windows server.

Sorry again, shorthand for content distribution network. Cheers.

Sorry, I jumped into the thread from the "Share your videos" article on the front page. It's not a link exchange or anything; Cachefly is a commercial CDN that happens to do pro bono services for non-profits and is quite popular amongst the podcasting crowds. I thought that it would be worth mentioning for those organizations cringing at the thought

Also consider approaching CDN providers such as Cachefly who offer services for non-profits (charity for sure, at least). Just contact their sales department and give them the basic pitch and you can put links to your hosted video content on your website.

Dittos on the tip about keeping mutually exclusive your domain registrar and web hosting company. If you ever have trouble with the web hosting company, a simple switch of nameservers is all that's needed to say bye bye to them (alongside putting a stop payment, etc. on any billing issues).

You might also want to check if you can set allowable times when the wireless network can be used (say during work hours only).

Of course, you could also put up something like phpBB as well which is free.
