  • RE: Which web design program to use?

There are a lot of new online tools that are aimed at helping people create quick & easy websites. Though I don't think anyone's created *the* perfect tool yet, there seem to be many more offerings than there were even a couple of years ago. Webnode is a free tool that allows you to create a free website w/blog, and lets you use your existing

  • RE: Cool Tool ALert: WINK

I'm going to have to second this Cool Alert. The last thing I really want to do right now is sign up for a new cool tool that I'll use for a minute and a half and then forget, but this actually looks really useful. You sign up, which takes no time at all, and then fill in the information for various social networking sites, like linkedin, flickr

  • RE: Need recommendations for plug and play website

Wild Apricot is very easy to use website builder tailored for nonprofits. I would also recommend Grassroots.org as a potentially great resource for your organization. • What's the best platform for easily and cheaply organizing documents and allowing people

This question is on behalf of a nonprofit worker I met recently who has a community of about 40,000 potential participants, but a very small budget and no tech staff. She wants to provide a way for the participants (who are teachers) to email each other and share documents. My first instinct was wiki, but most kinds I'm familiar with don't have

  • RE: Has your nonprofit used mashups? Are there any you'd like to see?

The Dougherty mashup shows the location of EPA identified facilities that release toxic chemicals in Dougherty Georgia. Most awesome things about this mashup are: *it's replicable, so people can use the source to build similar mashups for their communities *it was created instantly and for free in an afternoon session at the NetSquared Conference

  • RE: Wiki success stories?

You can find examples of organizations using wikis at http://www.netsquared.org/catlist/tid/60/flexinode-1 My personal favorite is the wiki at Never Again International ( http://neveragaininternational.org/wiki/ ), an "international network which aims to provoke ideas and actions for peace". They've done a fantastic job or making an engaging site

  • RE: Social Networking: here we are!

Nonprofits definitely are using social networking tools to further their mission; for instance, MySpace alone lists 5119 groups in their "Nonprofit and Philanthropy" section. Some of these are completely random, but there are some really great communities being build. Life Rolls On, for instance, is a 501c3 nonprofit that advocates for people who've
