We've been using Scribus for pre-press layout and it works beautifully. Oh, and it is free. Scribus Info

That looks promising. Thanks Megan. We are looking at CBORD's EventMaster. http://universities.cbord.com/products/product.asp?id=67

Well, we will need something more robust than a web-app. We have 5-20 room and facility reservations a day, including: weddings, bridal photo shoots, meetings, banquets, etc . . . Compound that with a 60 acre campus and 7 buildings, we know we cannot afford to be cheap on the startup. Currently we use Outlook and Exchange Public Folders to book things

Can anyone recommend a quality event management/catering/facility management suite? (Preferably something that can intergrate with Outlook/Exchange.) Thanks!

I know no open source solutions, but maybe this thread should move to another forum since this is a forum regarding open source software and Excel is closed source. Have you looked into OpenOffice Calc?

Great comments everyone. I will say support is the keystone that binds good development with open source software. Sure, everyone has bills to pay and working for free or for chump change is depressing. Not all great open source projects were of enterprise origin. Look at the Gimp, Drupal, Ubuntu (more or less), Debian, Apache, PHP, Python, MySQL, etc

I've seen too many non-profits waste generous donations on bloated fundraising packages simply because there exists no viable FOSS (free and open source) competition. I've tried

Hells bells, I'm too late. Oh well, for what it is worth we use this list of software. Asterisk Ubuntu Server 6.10 Ubuntu Desktop (many flavors) OpenOffice Drupal CrossOver Office (old timer just can't let go) Gimp, Cinelerra, InkScape FreeNAS (freebsd) QNX (not open but we use it) CENTOS M0N0WALL

Feisty is quite fast and stable. I've been using it since RC1 and have little to no problems. I use OpenOffice for all my management and the command line for admin of the Windows Server 2003. With the excpetion of our fundraising software, I see no reason why we should not go GNU/Linux and ditch the for-profit software barons. Really, all non-profits
