I have a question about that article. It was written in 2003, prior to the bill becoming law. Every reference to the CAN-SPAM act that I have read tells me that it superceded the various stronger state laws that were in efect prior to its passage. Mitchell seems to imply that the patchwork of stronger rules is still in place. Which is true?

Susan et al.... you might want to look at the software used to manage the front page blogs on ecademy The threading of replies is very nicely rendered in the display: replies to replies are indented under the item they reply to. And each email noitification (you are automatically subscribed when you contribute to a

I have not yet tried to find out what non-profit rate they will offer, but CitrixGoToMeeting is significantly less expensive than WebEx, easier to use, and last I looked had one very nice feature webex didn't have - the ability to switch whose computer was being shared in the middle of the conference... makes it a great tool for computer training

Hi Nancy - nice to know your name - thanks for your input on the tagging issue over in the emerging technology forum.

zowie - I really want to thank everyone Ward, Ruby, Beth, Clement, Susan, and ncssmith for their participation in this thread that seemed at first to be going nowhere... This question of formal vs informal tagging vocabularies that Ward raises is debated hotly on the net right now. The issue in part turns on the nature of the community doing the tagging. Clearly when a defined and bounded user group considers tagging, they will want a formal structure of tags. In using my company's software in-house, we see organizations

Clement wrote: EditMe At first glance it seems like yet another hosted wiki service. How's it different from other hosted wiki services that exist out there? What I like about it is its great simplicity. Takes no time to learn to use, has three security levels, does not have a host of optional services to figure out, has a nice fully formatted editor

ah, an endless source of debate! I think the folders go a long way towards resolving this. At our office we've gone for a deep tree. So for example, we have a folder CLIENTS. Under that we have a folder for each client. In each client's folder we have a set of standard subfolders for Contract, Documentation, Trouble Reports, Requests, Bills

Clement - Tiddlywiki and especially GTDtiddlywiki are great little tools - with a beautiful bloglike interface - I also used it as a personal notebook for a while - but how does it handle multiple users if posted publically as you recommend? It does not reread itself unles you prompt it to refresh, so you could trash another user's additions. Or
