  • Blogs for Intranet

Thought you guys might have some suggestions for Blog software, that we can deploy on our Intranet. Prefer to have it open source and database driven. I have looked at WordPress and Movable Type. Please give me you thoughts and pros and cons.

  • I'm back!!!!

Hey TechSoup gang, I just wanted to let you guys know that I am back at the web stuff again. The music gig did not work out in the long run, a fellow has to eat! I am back in the not-for-profit world and you will be seeing more of me in the future. Keep up the good work.

  • RE: Plea for larger font sizes

Surfers with sight imairments or age related dimming (I'm in the 40+ group myself and have taken to wearing reading glasses) should try using some of the alternative web browsers such as Firefox or Opera. They allow you to simply hold down your "Ctrl" key and then use your mouse's scroll wheel to instantly change font size. Opera makes the entire

  • RE: How much to build a website?

The final answer to the question of how much is always answered two ways: 1- How much will the client pay YOU to do their site (based on their budget and your skills/experience)and... 2- What is the bottom dollar you are willing to do what the CLIENT wants (you got to eat and apy rent)? IF neither of these are resolved successfully then their can not

  • RE: Tech questions for meeting planning

Helen gave you some great advice. I can not speak from much direct experience myself, but would add only one thing. I would not wait to the day of the event to make sure every thing works at the site. Try to get in there well before hand or even before you book the location to see if it will support your needs. A little work before had might stave off

  • RE: Personal laptop on company network policy

Maintaining the "minimum" standard in a personally owned system attached to a corporate network is at the core of this issue. The additional security risks and added work for the system administrator is seldom worth it. How will you enforce this standard every time they connect to the network, especially if they are doing so remotely. If they are using

  • RE: Creating Fresh New Identity & Web Presence

You can look in the Tech Finder to try and find a graphic designer to assist you with you identity and web design. If you have a very limited budget, you will want to be up front with them and say, I have this much what can you do for me.

  • RE: Personal laptop on company network policy

Pete just gave you some really good advice. I would definitely try to stick to the NO side of things. You mentioned that you already had laptops, why can this person not use one of yours? Unless they are doing something your laptops are incapable of, the risks are just too high. Also you need to consider liability issues. Could member or donor information
