We've had a Google Grant and been very grateful for the in-kind sponsored advertising it provides. I'd feel kind of hypocritical to be grateful for a Google Grant and then tell folks to use a Yahoo search for their searches. Many of our members found us by way of the sponsored ads from the Google Grant we've received. I'm not convinced

Regarding Christian's comment about re-designing a web site without considering how to preserve your existing traffic, also learn about 301 redirects and how use one to combine traffic from www and non-www domains that point to your Web site.

Are you going to provide "how to's" or examples of what is out there for nonprofits to use these tools or is the purpose of this online event just to introduce the concepts?

We have an online community with about 25 volunteers and we continue to grow. We want to use the My SQL database we have with our Web site for volunteer management. We need to use it for scheduling, keeping track of hours and reporting. We want to set up a system tied to the database where our volunteers can log in and report the number of hours worked

We can use perl and PHP. Our privacy policy does state that our own website uses cookies but what we don't want is third party advertising cookies. We are going to be looking for sponsors for some of our Web pages and want to use an in-house advertising engine. We want to be able to deliver the ads without using browser cookies. How exactly would one of these work and are there any that are relatively low cost? We do not want to allow any third party ads so we can eliminate any possibility of 3rd

Yann, I finally got a chance to read through your article. Very informative! Maybe I missed it but I saw that although you do mention the Google site search, this one above that I posted about is advertising *free*. It's a new service from Google for nonprofits.

I found out today that Google now offers a free, no add site search feature for nonprofit organizations called Public Site Search. Details about it are at http://services.google.com/pss_faq.html

Just wanted to give you an update: we installed the Zoom site search tool and it works great!! We are very pleased with it. Right now we are using the free version, and will plan to upgrade as our Web site grows. Thank you for taking the time to post about it. It is just what we needed for our Web site.
