Tax ID#:20-0042087 [Northwest Michigan Onsite Wastewater Task Force]WasteWater Education 501(c)3 is a regional collaborative formed in 2003 with seed money from the Joyce Foundation. We serve and support seven county health departments in northwest Michigan: Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, Benzie, Leelanau and Grand Traverse. Our Mission: To increase awareness that water quality is directly linked to the use of appropriate wastewater systems and their management. We engage in information and education activities which change how people think about their impact upon our shared water resources. Through research programs, public education activities and grant funded resource media, we have sought to increase access to the knowledge base for both industry, water professions, local elected officials, land use planners and the general public. Our education purpose encompasses ‘water’ - plain and simple! Although our emphasis is on rural, small town northern Michigan and Great Lakes states, our programs are relevant statewide and beyond. We are an organization built on partnerships and collaboration as evidenced in the 2010 Strategic Plan and most recent 2010 Annual Report both available on our web site.
We are an EPA WaterSense Partner and a strong advocate of integrated water resource management as a means to sustain community health and clean water availability for the future. Supporting our commitment to transparency and good governance you will find us on GuideStar.
