I am a generalist with 16 years
experience in the nonprofit sector, as a board member, employee and
consultant. I specialize in technology education and support for
nonprofits and small businesses. I am also a policy wonk and fount
of obscure nonprofit information.
My professional experience runs the gamut from managing an artisan
goat dairy to facilitating a strategic planning effort by an
international environmental consortium to building Portland’s tech
community’s economic development capacity. My esoteric background
has prepared me well to be the Tech Whisperer I am today.
I was an early adopter in using social media as a bridge between
online and face-to-face engagement. Based on my experience teaching
effective social media techniques to small business owners, the

technology certificate program covering such topics as cloud

In 2010, I worked with the League of Women Voters of Oregon to
redesign their website to better support their online presence
through more effective use of Twitter, Facebook and blogging. I also
designed and built a well-received online game for high school
students simulating the process of running for the Oregon

of the Community Nonprofit Resource Group (CNRG), leading them
through their own community building efforts as they expanded their
