Should phones and fax machines be included in a technology plan?
Absolutely. Phones, phone systems, voicemail systems, fax machines, printers, scanners, digital cameras, voice activated keyboards, photocopiers, video conferencing tools, training needs? all these things and many more can (and probably should) be in your tech plan. What you include depends on how detailed you want your plan to be. Keep in mind, though, that technology planning is a chance to think through and plan ahead for all of your technology-related needs, not just for your computer hardware. It will be easier to get all of those needs funded if they are part of a well-articulated plan.<:LINEBREAK:><:LINEBREAK:>If you?re paying to have a consultant facilitate your technology planning process and write your plan, I highly recommend that you get your money?s worth and ask the consultant to include all of these elements. If it has to be plugged in, it should be in your tech plan. Good luck!
