New Cell phone

I have finally jumped on the wireless web/cell phone bandwagon.  I live in an area that doesn't offer 3g with my current carrier, but I have found the web to work pretty good.  Better than dial up, but slower than DSL.  I got the LG Bliss with the touch screen qwerty keyboard instead of a slide out keypad.  I have found it to be pretty accurate even for someone with large hands.  Does anyone else have any phones similar to this?  How is the battery life for you?

With phones such as this, you can significantly improve the battery life by turning OFF the Bluetooth antenna, which is often set ON by default.

In reality, how often do you need your bluetooth antenna on? Even if it is several times a day, turning it on manually is easy, and safer to boot!

Also, even with brand new phones, it is a good idea to download the latest version of the operating system for that phone. Often there are fixes that improve the efficiency of installed programs, thereby improving battery life.

So far, battery life hasn't been an issue for me.  I don't really use it much.  I only got the pretty new toy because my wife wanted one and I didn't want to feel left out. :)  Mine came with the bluetooth off and I had to turn it on to pair it with the Uconnect bluetooth in my truck's audio system.  I should turn it off when I am not using it as you suggest.  When I use the remote starter on my truck on cold mornings, my cell phone connects to the truck audio.  On a couple of occasions, I've gotten calls and had to run out to my truck to take the call or quickly shut off the bluetooth.

I'm glad you brought up battery life. I have an iPhone and they are notorious for having a short battery life (as are ipods). One of the biggest things that made a difference was making sure I turned off the "push" feature for email and made it so it only updates at a fixed interval instead of as messages arrive. I found this blog post about other ways to conserve iPhone batteries, many of them similar to the Bliss.

One more important thing I would like to add to this post is the importance of antivirus software on your web/cell phones.  Just last week we had an instance where one of our employees passed a worm to his work PC when he connected his phone to it.

We had to totally wipe out his machine and reinstall everything.
