RSS and Your Nonprofit

Today on the TechSoup Blog, we talked about how RSS feeds can make it easier to sift through information online.

Has RSS changed the way you work? How? If you're not a fan of RSS, why not?

Happy Thursday,

Thanks, Elliot! I know the managing RSS thing is an ongoing issue with many of us. Now that we have this great tool, how do you make it so it is not an overwhelming amount of information AND so it's easy to quickly stay up on the news/topics that you need to.

In addition to the great links in Elliot's blog entry, I recently stumbled across this post from Carie Lewis, a nonprofit social media whiz, on how to use a simple iGoogle page to manage your RSS feeds and to manage tracking your organization name/industry news/hot topics, etc. Think of it as a dashboard for your google alerts and news. I set one up myself--it takes a little time, but it's very easy to do as well as easy to customize according to your individual tracking needs. If you can spend the intial time getting your RSS reader/monitoring device of choice, it can save time overall when you hit upon a solution that allows you to easily scan and stay up-to-date effectively.

Best,

Megan
