From July I will be based in Kenya for eight months on a VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) placement with the Kenya Society for the Blind, part of the role will be providing general IT support and partly training trainers to use specialist software. I have been familiarising various products both commercial (Dolphin, Jaws) and open source (Thunder, NVDA, Orca, Vinux).
What I would be interested in hearing are the experiences of folk in providing IT training to people with visual impairment.... what is the best approach to take, have you any examples of what has worked well and why? From the other end of things do you have any examples of what not to do and mistakes that I should avoid.
