extracting text from locked PDFs with GSview

Ever have a locked PDF and you need to extract text?  If so, check out GSview.

Today I had about 200 pages of text that I quickly needed to extract, and it did the job wonderfully.  (Of course, the formatting was jacked up, but in my case, that wasn't too much of a concern).

Friends don't let friends deal with locked PDFs!

UPDATE:

To use this, first install Ghostscript, then GSView. (If you are using Windows [32 bit, chances are all you've gotta do is install this then this.)

Rog, I was happy to see your post about this & earmarked it for when I might need to use it. However, when I went to the GSview page, I was a little daunted by the files listed there and required downloads & when I clicked on the download link, I got an error message. Suggestions? Is this something that you have to have a fair amount of tech knowledge to use or is it pretty easy to download and use? I hope it's the latter as this tool could really come in handy.

Thanks,

Megan

A link that should be reliable for GhostScript, even for later versions, sourceforge.net/projects/ghostscript/
