We've been working over the last quarter to make Capaciteria.org a more useful resource for these economic times.
The recent financial crisis has made NGO capacity support even harder to come by than it previously was. Now more than ever there is a need for the sector to have access to quality information related to capacity support. The Capaciteria.org resource index is free and allows for peer ratings and comment.
Over the last Year Capaciteria.org has almost doubled its capacity information resources to 2500 adding articles, books and guides to its list of websites, and adding about 30 new sub-categories to its existing 120 categories of nonprofit capacity resource information.
More importantly, after some difficulties in the summer with system speed and an overused server that uncovered some system bugs, Capaciteria.org had a major software upgrade and moved to a faster server so that access is now as fast as it was when it had fewer information resources and was accommodating less users accessing it concurrently. It's also had a duplicate link check and validation of all links for the New Year.
Related to new content, some of the resources and categories added have direct relevance to the current financial crisis, for example:
- Jobs category has 37 sites listed,
- Fundraising sources category has 57 links including international and domestic directories.
- In-kind giving category has another 20 resources
- Social Entrepreneurship, Earned Income & Sustainability has 59 resources
- Fiscal Sponsorship / Fiscal Agent Category has about 100 resources
- Organizational Growth & Change has 100 resources
- Startegic Planning 32 resources
- Financial Uncertainty, Budgeting & Cutbacks has 10 resources
- Mergers, Acquisitions, Restructuring, Dissolution has 32 resources
- Cooperation, Partnerships, Collaboration & Networking has 27 resources
And we are continuing to add more to these and other categories including governance, change management, leadership, advocacy and communications, evaluation, technology, office services, finance, legal, etc., etc...
