Non-profit (c)(6) looking for software

11-06-2008 12:21 PM

I work for a non-profit (c)(6) (Chamber of Commerce). Techsoup is not able to sell their software to (c)(6)'s. Techsoup suggested that I ask online if anyone knows of any organizations that will offer the discounted software to (c)(6) non-profits?

Thanks!
Sherri

Hi Sherri--

Welcome to TechSoup. Let's see, you may want to see if your org. qualifies for Microsoft Charity Pricing. You might also want to try CCB Nonprofits as they have a lot of information on discounted technology for charities. PC Mall is another source for finding discounted software.

Best,

Megan

I hope it is OK to mention non-profit software by my company - Wild Apricot does not have any formal restrictions re non-profit type and we have dozens of chambers of commerce among clients.

Hi, Dmitry,

If I understand your comment correctly, you are sayijng that your business doesn't have a restriction on selling to nonprofit organizations?

If that is the case, just to clarify, the reason that the poster is discussing being a 501(c)6/Chamber of Commerce is that TechSoup offers big discounts over most software vendors, if you get the software through TechSoup... but you need to be a 501(c)3 to qualify.

All businesses that I know of allow nonprofits to purchase from them, at their regular price.

If I misunderstood you, and you have a special discount for 501(c)6 organizations, please clarify.

Thanks,

Hi Sasha,

Sorry if I was not clear. Let me try to elaborate:

In some cases non-profits have to have certain formal classification/status to get special discounts.

Wild Apricot provides web-based non-profit software for the smallest non-profits and our pricing is tailored for them (flat monthly fee from $25, no setup, no transaction fees). We do not require formal status or classification from non-profits to get our software. We have great many chambers of commerce among clients.
We do get questions like "We are not formally registered as a non-profit, can we still use your software?" or "We are for-profit, can we use it?" - and we are always answering that while functionality and pricing of Wild Apricot is tailored for non-profits, we do not have any formal requirements.

I hope this explains it  :-)

Hi, Dimitry,

Thanks, then in short, you have one price for all buyers, whether commercial or nonprofit.

Thanks,

Sasha
