ELMO Document Camera Use

11-02-2008 11:22 AM

Our school is trying to come up with the funding to purchase an ELMO document camera for every classroom. We've considered one per grade level, but we've agreed that that never works, so it's all or none.

I'm trying to make a compelling case in a brief presentation. It's a pretty easy case to make as almost all new schools include them, all teachers can see the benefit immediately, and they don't *require* a computer connection. We're going to any and all sources we can find to get the funding, but it's still close to $25k for us (22 classrooms and we need projectors for each one, too).

I want to present our case in such a way that potential funders will bite. Any suggestions?

I guess this is a two part question; ELMO success stories and techniques for getting blood from stones...

Thanks!

Hi Vaughn--

This sounds like a truly benefitical technology investment, but I know getting funders to bite is the tricky part!

I don't have experience w/ this product, but you might find this funding article helpful to you. I also found this e-learning resource on using ELMO document cameras in classrooms, and includes a big list of ways it can be used which might be helpful to you in making the case for the purchase. I imagine there is also probably a case study/story or two in there as well that could help.

Good luck and please keep us posted on how this goes!

Best,

Megan
