Hello to all:
we are looking for software soultions that will setup and maintain a small church/school library.
check in & out inventory
catalog inventory
decimal system
scanning capabilities etc.
free or small fee ok, online or donation

I would go with openbiblio. Admittedly its a web based package ment for remote access and I assume that you will just be running it on one machine in your church but it will work for that as well. It takes about 1/2 to 1 hour to set up, if you have computer experience.

I haven't used it before, but there's also Koha, an open source library management system.

My organization is implementing LibraryThing. We have a modest library of a few hundred books and reports that has never been very well organized. We have a volunteer library sciences graduate student who is revamping the library for us. He recommended LibraryThing for us because it's an online service, so we won't have to maintain any software. Although I don't have experience using it yet, it's very modestly priced and seems to be user-friendly. One feature I like is the ability to import information about a book from other online catalogs using the Z39.50 protocol (such as Amazon and some online library catalogs).
