Phone call/contact management?

09-27-2007 11:38 AM

We're looking for a way to keep up with calls to us for help. Any suggestions on something we could use? Web based would be ideal, and we only have about 5 people dealing with the actual calls.

Thank you.

There are a number of Free and functional Open Source applications that can provide Help Desk functions to track calls. Here is a list to get you started:

http://www.phpsupporttickets.com/
http://www.sheddnet.net/
http://www.osticket.com/server/

And if you are interested in live chat support I would try: http://www.craftysyntax.com/

I am a huge fan of HelpSpot by Userscape. You can sign up for a free hosted 30-day demo and they'll even give you your data from the demo use to put into your production. Price is very reasonable - $179 / user (that'd be the 5 support people). I also got a non-profit discount for one of my clients to use (see the pricing page link, they'll quote you a discount if you email them). I use it to great effectiveness. It has great email and web integration with not only your 5 staff, but also the people requesting help from you. And has knowledgebook and forum features for self help. Or KB entries for staff-only. Very slick.
