YouTube-style embedded maps for your Website

We've had a previous discussion before in the TechSoup community on how nonprofits can use Google Maps. TechSoup blog reports on a new feature of Google Maps that allows you to embed a custom Google Map on any Webpage or blog. Nonprofits now have even more possibilities for using Google Maps still further to enhance their Websites.

Have you tried this new Google Map feature? What are some ways nonprofits can use this new feature?

Best,

Megan

We're using embedded maps to show where our conservation campaigns are!

We use it.

Meals on Wheels Embedded Map

Clients, caseworkers and volunteers need to find who their local program is, so they use this map (or they follow a link to Google Maps so they can enter an address - this feature is not embeddable yet).

Our programs are not divided by any pre-existing borders (cities, zips, etc) so i created polygons for each program and put their contact info in the info bubbles.

Without the 'enter address here' search maps field, the map is not as functional as i hoped. Also, it does not consistently work, the polygons do not always show up, and when someone does go directly to the google maps and enters an address it doesn't work at all anymore...

it is an on going time-consumer for me
