Hi All
has anyone here ever come accross the problem on exchange 2003 where users are sent a message stating that their mailbox is over the size limit but if you check on the actual mailbox from the outlook client the mailbox is empty?
From exchange system manager the mailbox will show as being 50 or 60mb and via outlook it shows as 2kb???
I've seen it with remote users and offline folders and (rarely) with local users and large .ost files...
Compressing (compacting) the offline folders might help...

Keep in mind that sent mail and other folders are included in the storage size limit. It is not just the inbox that is measured.
Also, the maximum mailbox size can be adjusted by the Exchange administrator. If that setting is unreasonably low, talk to the admin.
Under the "other folders" heading, don't forget the Deleted Items folder. I've seen users with 5,000 items (literally) in Deleted Items because they didn't know that they had to empty it (or set it empty automatically).
