Hi all,
I'm moving to Blackbaud's NetCommunity (from WordPress) and am interested in backing-up this Blackbaud-hosted content on my own server.
This is to protect me from (unlikely) Blackbaud crashes and (possible) migration back out of Blackbaud in the future.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

Austin,
I don't have an IT background, but have been implementing NetCommunity for a number of years with clients. There are a couple issues here:
1) Keep a copy of the original templates/layouts & stylesheets information that BB will deliver to you prior to implementation.
2) Have your staff complete content using MSWord or similar program, then when ready to build the content they can work from those originals. This also provides an automatic backup copy of all content that will be placed online and you can re-create as needed.
Because it is proprietary software that is holding the actual content, if you don't have that software installed on a backup server I'm not sure how you would be able to access the content using only a BBNC backup.
Hope this makes sense to you. I'm more than happy to discuss these comments and any other best practices you might want to implement with regards to BBNC.
Note: I am an independent consultant on BBNC, so I just wanted to be up front about that.
