We have a small computer consulting company and we're looking into using VOIP. Can anyone give me a recommendation of company? I'm presently looking into Vonage. Any other suggestions?

What is your primary requirement for choosing VOIP?
Do you have a stable internet connection with enough bandwidth? There are benefits and disadvantages to having a hosted solution like Vonage. With Vonage, you could have 2 or 3 lines on a single high speed connection. But it wont give you the functionality of a PBX. You can also look into a low-cost IP PBX from D-Link, with which you can use any standard IP phone.
One thing about Vonage, and possibly applies to others, if you are using it with cable modem based internet (specifically Comcast though it may effect others), there are some known issues regarding call quality.
For us, it worked fine for a couple of months. Then, calls would fade in and out. We could hear them but they couldn't hear us and vice versa. Weird distortion, etc. It was also hit and miss with fax machines. One machine wouldn't work reliably, while another worked flawlessly.
Now, these could be issues with any VOIP phone company. Though, I have used Vonage at home with my DSL and have had no problems at all.
Also, you should have at least one physical phone line or reliable cell phone in case of power failure.

How many simultaneous calls are you looking to utilize? Do you need Voicemail? Voicemail to Email Functions? Would you like to record your phone calls? What features are you looking for in a VoIP System?
