I've got 4 D-Link DWL-2200AP's deployed to expand out LAN. In our other building, used as a dormitory for visiting researchers, one of them can only connect at a data rate of 1 MB or less. The others are doing it at 10-20 MB (the AP's are set to 24 MB data rate to account for the distance from the primary WAP).
Being rather new to the wireless world, I'm stumped - what could account for the different connection data rates? His wireless NIC maybe?
That would be my suspicion -- see what else is different between that machine and the others. Could be the card itself, drivers, OS, etc...
In addition to checking their wireless NIC you can try moving the channels around on the AP as well.
Does the individual have poor connection elsewhere? If they have an internal Wireless NIC from time to time the antenna can become disconnected or even break.

I've got the channels set to AUTO.
He's tried moving to both ends of the building; same result. I'll have him check his NIC for physical problems.
Thanks.
