Interesting that she *didn't* take the point of view that online volunteering is "new" -- that's refreshing.

This is an inspiring article, thanks for posting it.

For those who come upon this thread after access to the article has expired, what it is saying is that nonprofits can use online volunteers to carry serious responsibilities. There are more volunteers out there looking, than there are good online opportunities for them to fill. If you can get some good practices in place you can do some serious nonprofit work.

Very inspiring was the brief mention of a group that uses only online volunteers to help AIDS orphans, and which has no paid staff.
