IRS has released a new form, 1098-C, for donations of cars or boats. Like W2 or 1099, you need software to prepare on paper provded by IRS. Will probably be available by year end, but we are required to provide to Donor in 30 days. Does anyone know where to find the data entry and print support?

From the brief look I took at the form on the IRS site, it looks like you can provide the donor copy b and c for their records and then file the official form A at years end when software is available.

Ok, you need Acrobat Reader to work with these PDF forms. I think that is the software you are talking about? There should be a link on the IRS site for that, but if not let us know and we can post it.
Like the W2 or other forms, you only need Acrobat Reader to read and print the forms. Copy A says it's just for information(?), but copies B & C go to the donor.
Note to PDF Geeks: If your organization has a lot of these kind of forms, you can actually add text fields to the forms and save the modified form. This allows you to enter your informaion directly into the form and then print it out, rather than print it out and fill it out by hand.
And if you enter in the basic information that you use each time, you can EXPORT FORM DATA to a file. The next time you need to use the form, just use IMPORT FORM DATA and most of your work is already done.

I thought the software was needed to create a scannable form for the IRS and that filling out their PDF document would not qualify for submission to the IRS. That's why the copy A was not for submission and B and C for information to the donor only.
