Hi Everyone:
I just joined here and wanted to gather some constructive criticism for something I'm involved with.
The project is a Web 2.0 tool, I suppose you could say, that enables organizations to set up and maintain an online media room for free. Using the media room control panel, organizations can post press releases, facts, events, bios, and more.
The tool is called MyMediaRoom and is located at www.mymediaroom.com . Media rooms are hosted on my server and they are given their own URL, such as: mynonprofit.mymediaroom.com. Additionally, there are add-ons that I charge a small amount a month for to pay overhead expenses. These add-ons include using your own template, creating an image gallery, custom URL, and some others. I could foresee these features becoming free for non-profits down the road.
The application was originally created for companies, but I recently realized what a great tool it would be for non-profits. I've been around non-profits since I was a kid and I can safely say a lot of the small ones lack a web presence. Even the ones that do have web sites do not maintain it with new content (understandably). The tool requires little, if any, technical knowledge, so it’s great for those who don’t have the time to deal with coding, web development, etc.
Furthermore, I would think non-profits generally want to attract media attention. With a media room, they can centralize all their official news and press information. And even if they don't care to attract journalists, a media room is important in keeping members, prospects, donors, etc up-to-date on what the organization's doing.
Anyway, if anyone if feeling bored and wants to check this out, I'd appreciate it. I'm still trying to work out some of the bugs so it's far from being perfect (feel free to contact me if you have a problem). Also, I hope my message is not construed as advertising... if it is, I apologize... just trying to get some feedback.
