I'm a little surpriesed no one has brought up SPF. It's a one line entery in your DNS.
SPF fights return-path address forgery and makes it easier to identify spoofs.
This is FREE. - We all need to be doing this. There is no reason not to.
In Tech Planning forum I discussed the another way to do it. FYI - This other method will be implemented by defualt in about a year by Microsoft.

Hi Douggg,
(you probably should edit your duplicate post to point to one thread only)
SPF has been mentioned numerous times on TS Spam discussions - here's a couple of links to discussions you might find useful:
Email Fraud - Sender ID Framework - SPF Records
An Overview of SPF
Do You Use SPF Records?
PS - You can use the 'Search' box at the top of each page to check for prior posts on any given topic.
Cheers, Don
Douggg, why the duplicate post?
Douggg, why the duplicate post?
People are asking how to prevent spam. Just trying ot help folks out.
Yes, we don't need messages pointing to other threads. One on the topic should be enough.
By the way, while SPF sounds great, there's not alot of small organizations that manage or have access to their DNS records, so this information will not be of interest to everyone from an implementation standpoint.
Sorry, I see what you mean about dub post. I think I clicked post and nothing happened, so I clicked it again.
