Microsoft Software Assurance Limit and Office 12

1. How long does Microsoft's Software Assurance last? We purchased in Nov, 2003. Will Assurance expire next month?

2. In particular, will Assurance purchased in 11/03 be useful for upgrading to the new Office (in 2006?).

Software Assurance coverage lasts for 2 years from the date of your purchase. So if your order was bought in November 2003, then it'll expire next month.

You can actually check the exact expiration date of your Software Assurance coverage on the eOpen website. Just log on, and check the Start Date and End Date on the Agreement Summary page.

Lastly, Software Assurance can be renewed, and you can find more information on how to do that [urlhttp://www.techsoup.org/stock/ms_program_faq.asp?visit=1#q7_8]. The FAQ also discusses what to do if you want to purchase a new version of a program you already have after your Software Assurance expires. You can either get a new license through our donation program when the product becomes available on our site, or order new Software Assusrance coverage for your products.
