Hi,

You are better off contacting Symantec to find a local Channel Partner (I have no idea where in the world you are!)

Re: Symantec Enterprise Product - Backup Exec 12.5 Support Service Question

Hi Don,

Yes, I totally understand what you are saying. We are also very grateful that Symantec donated this product. That's why I stated that we would like to buy the extended (paid) support but we just don't know how. We already contacted Symantec Channel Partner, DELL, and they don't know how to proceed by just purchasing the extended (paid) support for donated software. They never deal with donated software before.

I apologize if I probably wasn't clear enough with my question. If you have a channel partner that you know could help me, please let me know. I would like to have a business with them.

Thanks,

Like many donors Symantec provide product donations bundled with free online support, however they do not provide extended support as a free donation (quite understandable, and of course Symantec are to be thanked for the donations they DO provide).

Extended (paid) support for Symantec products is generally provided by Symantec Channel Partners - Your local or national Symantec office can provide you with Channel Partner contact information, who in turn can sell you an extended paid support option.

Cheers, Don

Symantec Enterprise Product - Backup Exec 12.5 Support Service Question

Hi all,

We would like to purchase the Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 but since it doesn't come with PAID support, we would like to buy it separately but don't know how.

Does anyone know if it's possible to do that?

The techsoup symantec product only comes with FREE online support. Since this is a backup software which is critical, we would like to get a solid support.

Our reseller, DELL, does not think that we can purchase just the PAID support from Symantec. We would have to buy a full product from them and then have the PAID support included. DELL Symantec Rep had no idea how to make it work. I called Techsoup and asked to see if they have a Symantec Rep that deal with this and somehow could make it work, and they said they don't have one.

My last step would be calling Symantec myself but before I do that, I would seek for help here. Maybe any of you knows someone at Symantec. :)

I just wish Symantec would give a better support for donation software just like Microsoft (SA included) and Cisco (Support included).

Thanks,
