Refurb Lab Coordinator / I.T. Trainer, South SF Bay Area

The CompTechS program at Foothill - De Anza Community College district's Occupational Training Institute is in immediate need of a "Laboratory Instructional Coordinator".

The position is basically a combination of I.T. management (focusing on desktop deployment) and student training / mentoring. The CompTechS lab refurbs ~200 donated systems / yr. in a student I.T. training lab environment and distributes those systems to students in need of a computer. Interns who work in the lab are paid student employees who also have opportunities to continue their internship at local companies. Up to six interns work in our lab simultaneously with ~20 or so on the current lab roster throughout the week.

Lab coordinator must have good PC hardware skills, excellent people skills, and ability to manage and train a co-ed, multicultural team of student interns of differing abilities in a production environment. Industry certifications, inventory management, and training / tutoring experience definite plus. More details / requirements provided upon inquiry.

•    Provide technology students with valuable hands-on work experience in our refurb lab and industry internships, while helping disadvantaged students succeed in college by providing them with a free computer.

•    Help the environment by refurbishing and redeploying equipment that would otherwise become e-waste.

•    Meet business’ computer recycling, technical support, entry-level hiring, and future technical workforce needs.
