We are new to online training and want to offer our conventional classroom training (generally 2 days for each program) in a web conferencing offering, too.

Should we charge the same tuition fee for the virtual class as for the conventional class or less?

I noticed that globalknowledge charges 30% less.

Why would they do that?

I enjoy live on-line training!

Unfortunately the only online live training that I have attended was done by Microsoft, hence I can't be as objective as I would like. Usually when I sign-up for a online training course it's because I'm in the middle of a development project that will go into production soon. I rarely sign up for online classes if I am not going to be using that skillset right away, mainly because I have better questions and need assistance at some point.

The training platforms I use are based on Microsoft Live Communication Solutions and I will use it again.

A couple of years ago I took a diploma course in online learning that was delivered online and it was a great way of learning what not to do! Once in a while I came away thinking, 'that worked, must try it somewhen' but there were also times when the thought was 'boy, do not ever do things that way'.

When it came to 'talking heads' with no worthwhile visual content I used to shut the video down and leave the sound running. Band width hogging video is fine as long as it is done well and used for some purpose, personally that is not just a web cam shot of the instructors head.

The top number one lesson for delivering online training is the same as that for any other form of training... preparation and practise. We all make mistakes and foul ups but most prefer not to do so live.

On-line training is terrible. I have conducted sessions for up to 150+ people lasting 1 hour.

I can't watch on-line canned training. Too boring.

If you must do online live training try GoToMyMeeting.
